Mankato Campus Foundation Scholarships

The following list represents a sampling of scholarships that are typically awarded each year.  Fundraising is done on an ongoing basis.  Some scholarships listed may not have been confirmed for this year, and additional scholarships may be available.  Students who complete the general scholarship application will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

 

AGRIBUSINESS SERVICE TECHNICIAN SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are made available to students enrolled in the Agribusiness Service Technician program by area implement dealers and co-ops. Named scholarships for 2006 include the following:  Arnolds of Mankato, Inc. Scholarship; Mankato Implement Scholarship; Siemon Implement Scholarship, United Farmers Coop Scholarship, and Zins Hardware Scholarship.  Country Side Implement, Detke Morbac, Lawson Products, Olson Distributing, Rabe International, and Smith's Mill Implement have also made contributions to this fund in the past year. 

AGSTAR FINANCIAL SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP

Funded by AgStar Financial Services, this scholarship is available to students enrolled in any of SCC's Agricultural programs.

ALL AMERICAN FOODS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

These endowed scholarships are awarded to students demonstrating academic achievement and financial need.

ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students who are, or whose immediate family members are, alumni of SCC.

BENCO ELECTRIC SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students enrolled at SCC, with preference given to those residing in areas served by BENCO Electric.

BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF MINNESOTA SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students pursuing careers in health-related fields.

WILLIAM J. BRESNAN SINGLE PARENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

William J. Bresnan, President of Bresnan Communications, generously established this endowment for the express purpose of helping single parent students or the children of single parents.  The awards will be presented to students who are single parents or adult children of a single parent, who display financial need and academic excellence.

BROWN PRINTING SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students enrolled in the Graphics program. Please see the Graphics instructors for additional information.

CAPSTONE PRESS SCHOLARSHIPS

Capstone Press generously provides these scholarships for graphic designers.

CATERPILLAR PAVING COMPANY SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students enrolled in the Computer Integrated Machining program.

CENTERPOINT ENERGY SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students enrolled in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration program.

COMPASS POINT BOOKS SCHOLARSHIPS

Compass Point Books generously provides these scholarships for graphic designers.

COUGHLAN COMPANIES SCHOLARSHIPS

Coughlan Companies generously provides scholarships for Computer Tech, Computer Programming, and Computer Integrated Machining students.

CRYSTAL VALLEY AG SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students enrolled in SCC’s agricultural programs.

DENTAL ASSISTING SCHOLARSHIPS

Students enrolled in SCC’s Dental Assisting program are eligible for these scholarships.

MAY AND JOHN GILLES ENDOWED NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students enrolled in SCC’s Nursing program.

FIRST NATIONAL BANK MINNESOTA SCHOLARSHIP

This endowed scholarship is available to students enrolled in business-related programs at SCC exhibiting financial need and academic achievement.

HICKORY TECH CORPORATION SCHOLARSHIPS

HickoryTech has generously provided funds for the following scholarships:

  • Two Computer Careers Scholarships
    to outstanding students in the Computer Careers program
  • One Accounting Scholarship
    to an outstanding student in the Accounting/Accounting Microcomputer Specialist program
  • Recruitment awards to ten outstanding High School students

PAUL HIGGINBOTHAM “MAKE A CONNECTION” SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

This scholarship fund was established to honor the memory of Paul Higginbotham.  Scholarships are available to students in SCC’s Community Social Service program.

DEL HODGKINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to outstanding students enrolled in SCC’s Agribusiness programs.

I & S ENGINEERS & ARCHITECTS SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to students enrolled in Architectural Drafting or any of the construction trades.

IMMANUEL ST. JOSEPH'S AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to students enrolled in health-related programs.

INSTITUTE FOR WIRELESS EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

A generous donation from the Institute for Wireless Education funds these scholarships that are available to students enrolled in SCC's Wireless program.

DENNY JACKSON MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This memorial scholarship is given in honor of long-time SCC administrator and instructor Denny Jackson.  This scholarship is available to outstanding adult Business Management students.

JOHNSON OUTDOORS SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students in any program area.  A G.P.A. of 3.0 or above is required.

JONES/CRYSTEEL SCHOLARSHIP

This endowment fund was established by a generous donation from Eldon D. and Helen C. Jones of Lake Crystal, Minnesota.  First consideration for the scholarship is given to children of Crysteel Manufacturing and Crysteel Truck Equipment employees, Lake Crystal area students, and students with high need.

JONES PAGE JACOBSON FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The Jones Page Jacobson Family Foundation was established with funds from the estate of Cecil and Mildred Jones.  Its grants are targeted towards cultural, educational, and humanitarian programs that enhance the quality of life in the Mankato area.  Kay and Lyle Jacobson and their children are trustees of this foundation.  Scholarships at SCC are awarded to Computer Careers, Computer Integrated Machining, and Agriculture students. 

MIKE KELTGEN AG SCHOLARSHIPS

These agricultural scholarships honor the memory of Mike, who would have been a 2003 agriculture graduate.

GERALD KRAHMER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This memorial scholarship is given in honor of former instructor Gerald Krahmer. The scholarship is available to students enrolled in Wireless Communications or Electronics.

KROST SCHOLARSHIPS

These awards are made possible through a trust from Fred and Anna Krost (deceased).  These general scholarships are available to students showing financial need and commitment to their education.

  • High School Awards are awarded to graduating high school seniors enrolling at SCC.
  • Current Student Awards are made to current SCC students who have completed at least one semester at SCC.

MATTHEW KRZMARZICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established in honor of SCC Alumnus Matthew Krzmarzick, this scholarship is available to high school seniors attending Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial High School or residing in Blue Earth or Brown County, who are enrolling in Computer Careers, Computer Integrated Machining, or Office System Specialist programs at SCC.  

LAKE CRYSTAL AREA SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students residing in, or with heritage in the Lake Crystal area. Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need.

LEGAL SECRETARY SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students enrolled in the Office Technology Legal Secretary program.

LINDSAY WINDOWS SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to single parents with high financial need. 2.0 GPA minimum.

MANKATO AREA INDEPENDENT AUTO DEALERS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to students enrolled in SCC’s Automotive Service program.

MANKATO CLINIC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

These scholarships are available to students enrolled in medical programs.

MANKATO DOWNTOWN KIWANIS SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to students with high academic achievement and vocational promise.

MANKATO-KASOTA STONE SCHOLARSHIP

Mankato-Kasota Stone generously provides one scholarship for an Architectural Drafting student.

MANKATO NEW CAR DEALERS SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to students enrolled in SCC’s Automotive Service program.

DORIS MERTESDORF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established in memory of Doris Mertesdorf, these scholarships are available to students enrolled in SCC's Nursing program, or any other health program disciplines.

MICO SCHOLARSHIPS

MICO, Inc. generously provides these scholarships for students in SCC’s Computer Integrated Machining program.

MIDWEST WIRELESS SCHOLARSHIPS

Mankato-based company Midwest Wireless generously supports scholarships for SCC students each year.

MILLER'S MASONRY / MILLER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

These scholarships are available to students enrolled in SCC's Architectural Drafting or Nursing programs.

DR. KENNETH AND DARLENE MILLS PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

For students exhibiting high academic achievement and who are, through their deeds, adding value to the lives of others.

NEW ULM PRECISION TOOL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to students enrolled in SCC’s Computer Integrated Machining program.

NORAM/MINNEGASCO FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

A grant awarded by the NorAm/Minnegasco Foundation will fund four scholarships to incoming high school students showing financial need, academic achievement and commitment to their education.

CITY OF NORTH MANKATO SCHOLARSHIPS

These generous scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.

NORTH MANKATO CIVIC & COMMERCE ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to North Mankato residents.

OFFICE TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are awarded to outstanding students enrolled in SCC’s Office Technology program.  Additional information may be obtained from the Office Technology department.

PAULSEN ARCHITECTS SCHOLARSHIP

This award is given to a student in the Architectural Drafting program. The student must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, have good leadership qualities, and show financial need.

PICTURE WINDOW BOOKS SCHOLARSHIP

Picture Window Books generously provides two scholarships for artists/illustrators.

WILLIAM D. RADICHEL FOUNDATION ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

The William D. Radichel Foundation generously funds this scholarship for students enrolled in SCC’s Computer Integrated Machining or Sales, Marketing and Management programs.

RAY TUOMALA “SISU” MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

The life of Ray Tuomala, a strong supporter and former leading member of the SCC Foundation Board of Directors, was honored at a memorial celebration in the Spring of 2002.  That celebration benefited the SCC Foundation.  A scholarship was set up for students demonstrating “SISU” (a Finnish word, meaning “intestinal fortitude”).

RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are provided by local restaurants, and are available to students enrolling or currently enrolled in SCC’s Restaurant Management program.

ROBERT D. WILDER TOOL AND DIE SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to students in SCC’s Computer Integrated Machining program. Preference will be given to students from Mankato who demonstrate need.

SCC MANKATO CAMPUS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

These awards are available to SCC students in all programs. Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need.

SIGN PRO OF SOUTHERN MINNESOTA SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is generously provided by Sign Pro of Southern Minnesota.  Preference is given to Graphics, Commercial Art, and Sales & Marketing students.

HARRY STELTEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship award, in memory of former Automotive Service Instructor Harry Stelten, will be awarded to a student in the Automotive Service Technology program.

SWINE MANAGEMENT - FARM CREDIT SCHOLARSHIPS

These awards are given to students in the Swine Management program. The award recipient will be chosen by the faculty.

GLEN A. TAYLOR SINGLE PARENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Glen Taylor, Chairman and CEO of Taylor Corporation, generously established this endowment for the express purpose of helping single parent students or the children of single parents. The awards will be presented to students who are single parents or adult children of a single parent, who display financial need and academic excellence. 

STEVEN R. TAYLOR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This endowed scholarship is given to a student in the Wireless Communications Electronic Technician program. Consideration will be given first to veterans, but veteran status is not a requirement. The student should also show financial need.

TIRE ASSOCIATES ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This award is given to a student enrolled in any program within the Technical and Industrial area of SCC.

JOHN VOTCA ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This award is made possible through an endowment established for John Votca, former SCC President.  It is awarded to a student exhibiting academic achievement and strong leadership qualities.

V-TEK ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

These awards are made possible through a generous donation from the Mankato electronics firm, V-TEK, Inc.  Preference for these awards will be given to students enrolled in Electronics or Computer Integrated Machining programs. Secondary preference will be given to Computer Careers, Accounting, or Office Technology students.

WELLS CONCRETE SCHOLARSHIPS

These awards, available to students in SCC’s Architectural Drafting program, are generously supported by Wells Concrete Products Company in Wells, Minnesota.   

WINLAND ELECTRONICS SCHOLARSHIPS

Mankato electronics firm Winland Electronics generously provides funds for these awards, which are available to students enrolled in Accounting or Computer Careers programs.

XCEL ENERGY SCHOLARSHIPS

Funded by a generous grant from the Xcel Energy Foundation, these scholarships are available to students who reside or have parents who reside in the Xcel Energy service area.

NOTE: The above named scholarships are subject to change based upon decisions of scholarship donors. Additional scholarships may be available, and some of the scholarship programs may be omitted. The South Central College Foundation shall have the authority to revise the scholarship criteria or any other provisions of the agreement from time to time as determined necessary to comply with any applicable local, state, or federal laws, rules or regulations or donors' wishes.
